Things have come a long way in the world of
nutrition.
In the beginning, nutritional science was focused on the concept
of ‘deficiency’: a nutrient’s value was defined
in terms of its absence. The conditions under which nutrients
became ‘essential’ were generally associated with
sickness. Today leading nutritionists and doctors ask the more
pertinent question - what is the optimum amount of a certain
nutrient that will lead to improvements in health?
We now know that our nutritional needs are as unique as our
fingerprints and that those needs alter as we grow older. When we
are under stress or have over-indulged, our nutrient requirements
change. To suggest that we get all the nutrients we need from our
diet, which often includes processed, pre-packaged foods, is for
many of us highly unlikely. Yet there is still an official policy
line from the old guard that we get them all from food in spite of
numerous studies to the contrary. International research regularly
demonstrates one clinical success after another with the addition
of ‘optimal’ amounts of dietary nutrients.
At Healthspan, wherever and whenever there have been valuable
advances in the science of nutrition, we have incorporated them
into our ‘advanced’ range of products. It’s why
we pioneered the introduction of gelatin-free capsules and why in
government tests ours was found to be the purest cod liver oil out
of the 33 brands examined. We are the only company in the UK to
supply a vegetarian form of DHA (cerebrum), and a vegetarian
glucosamine. There are now over 78 ‘advanced’
supplements in the Healthspan range, of which 60 are suitable for
vegetarians because all our ´advanced´ capsule shells
are gelatin-free. You also won’t find any products as
good-quality as ours available in the shops at lower prices,
because by supplying ‘direct’, we cut out all the costs
of the middleman.
