Turmeric has been used for centuries for its natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects which help to relieve arthritis, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome and many other ailments.
The primary anti-inflammatory plant of ayurvedic medicine (Indian traditional medicine) Tumeric is effective in helping to treat arthritis, joint pain, indigestion and irritable bowel syndrome. In the early 1970's researchers uncovered the science behind its efficacy - notable inflammation-fighting compounds called curcuminoids. The curcumin in turmeric reduces inflammation by lowering histamine levels and increasing production of natural cortisone by the adrenal glands. Turmeric is also an antioxidant with a similar potency to that of Vitamin C and E. Antioxidants provide cell protection by 'mopping up' unstable oxygen molecules called free radicals that can otherwise cause cell damage which is associated with ageing and many diseases of older age.
Turmeric is a yellow-flowered perennial plant found in India and throughout Asia. The root of the plant is used both as a spice and for health benefits. The active ingredient is curcumin, which is obtained by scalding, drying and then grinding the root like stem of the plant to form a yellow powder.
Each Healthspan turmeric tablet contains 500mg of standardised extract (20:1) equivalent to 10,000mg of root powder. Our formulation is a high strength root extract standardised to provide a minimum of 95% curcumin.
