Flaxseed oil is a vegetarian form of omega 3 essential fatty acid EPA, to help maintain a healthy heart and joints.
Flaxseed oil is a rich source of Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA), a member of the Omega-3 essential fatty acid family, which is converted by the body into EPA.
Whilst DHA is the 'structural' fatty acid, whose effects take time to build, EPA may be more immediate in its effect. Research shows it to be especially helpful for protecting heart and artery health. Essential fatty acids, so called because they cannot be manufactured by the body, are usually obtained from fish and fish oils. Flaxseed is an alternative source of supply for vegetarians and others who do not consume much fish.
Only pure organic flaxseed oil is used to make each of Healthspan´s Flaxseed Oil capsules with added vitamin E at 100% of the recommended daily allowance. Until now, all capsules that contained oils or liquids, were made from gelatin, a substance of animal origin. These new capsules are of vegetable origin and are completely free from gelatin!
