The active ingredients believed to be responsible for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic actions are contained in the root system and are called harpagosides. These are most plentiful in the plant's secondary root system, its tubers. Because plants naturally vary according to climate and soil type, the amount of harpagosides that they contain can also vary. This is why, as with most herbal products, it is most important to ensure that the product you purchase is made from standardised extracts to ensure consistent strength.
Healthspan´s tablets contain 440mg of standardised extract, equivalent to 2200mg of root powder. This extract provides a minimum of 1.5% harpagosides (equivalent to 6mg harpagosides per tablet.) Our tablets are pharmaceutically packed in foil blisters for convenience and to help them stay fresh.
We recommend that devil's claw is taken continuously for four weeks to achieve maximum effect.
