Key Benefits

  • 5p from every pack donated to Fight for Sight

Product overview

  • Gluten Free
  • Suitable for Vegans & Vegetarians
  • Gelatin Free

Retinex® contains the powerful ingredient Lutein, a natural carotenoid that is found in many fruits and vegetables as well as in the eye, where it is partly converted into zeaxanthin. Each Healthspan Retinex tablet contains 10mg of natural Lutein and 1,000mcg of Zeaxanthin.

In the eye, Lutein is deposited mainly in the lens and in the central retina (the macula) where it is partly converted into Zeaxanthin.

Our experts recommend upgrading to OptiVision®, which contains 12mg Lutein along with 280mg DHA and 40mg EPA, 2,400mcg zeaxanthin plus vitamin B2 to support the maintenance of normal vision.

For every pack of Retinex sold (up to and including 31st December 2014) Healthspan will donate 5 pence to support Fight for Sight’s work (Charity Number 1111438). Fight for Sight does not endorse this product. Find out more.

I wish to maintain good eyesight for as long as possible and have had a number of problems treated at Moorfields. I hope that Lutein will defer other potential problems

My husband has Macular degeneration of the wet kind which as you are aware is a faster moving version, since taking Retinex (Lutein) as suggested by the Specialist at the hospital. Not a cure, he advised but it hopefully could slow down the process. It has of which we are so very pleased, said specialist has since retired but we have given this information to others.

There is actually no way of knowing whether this product actually does work or not. With "iffy" eyesight it is a case of try anything that might help. No immediate sign of it getting worse though.

I have taken Retinex for about 3 years in the hope that the macular degeneration I inherited from my mother will not get as bad as hers was (she was registered partially sighted at her death). I don't know whether Retinex is helping, but my AMD has not worsened over this time, and I have had no adverse effects from taking the pills.

I take these every other day in the hope that they will help to protect me against macular degeneration. I have retinal photography every 2 years to check on the macular and my optician assures me that mine is in good condition, so far.

I have AMD Dry in both eyes. I have been recommended by opthalmologists and my Danish consultant surgeon specialising in AMD to purchase vitamins A,C and E, zinc and Lutein, possibly with Copper to ameliorate the problem. This has been widely published in the scientific press.Lutein and its other related product help the retina. An alternative is to eat spinach, green vegs such as calbresse, certain forms of lettuce containing lutein
