Several constituents in Echinacea are believed to work together to support the body's natural defence system but research suggests that cichoric acid appears to be the primary immune stimulating, anti-microbial constituent. It is obtained from the expressed juice of the 'above ground' parts of the plant Echinacea purpurea and is most abundant in the leaves and the flower heads themselves.
Each Healthspan tablet contains 160mg of highly concentrated fresh plant juice extract (20:1) obtained from 3200mg of fresh herb. This extract is standardised to contain 3% of the active ingredient cichoric acid. Our extract also contains alkamides, glycoproteins and polysaccarides that are also effective as immunity modulators; but for consistency of quality, this extract has been standardised on cichoric acid .
