The main function of a moisturiser is evident in the name; like it says on the tin, it provides moisture. If you have a specific area that you want to tackle then you are likely to see more results by adding a specialist product, which contains ingredients tailored to a particular area, alongside your usual moisturiser.

Skin hydration

Moisturisers play a vital role in keeping skin hydrated. Repeated application on any area increases the moisture content of the skin which has a multitude of benefits including boosting radiance and plumping, which in turn can help to push out wrinkles. This effect is usually achieved with a blend of what’s called emoliants and humecants. Most moisturisers contain a few little added extras to provide additional benefits. Many contain SPF to create a barrier between the skin and the sun’s damaging rays and antioxidants to offer defence against harmful free radical damage that can be caused by other environmental factors...

Specialised ingredients

The point of difference between moisturisers comes in the other ingredients that they may contain. Many own brand supermarket creams for example will not contain anything more than these basic ingredients. Each of our moisturisers however contain a mix of specialised ingredients to provide added benefits tailored to particular needs. For instance the replenish day and night creams and body butter contain phytoestrogens to compensate for falling hormone levels during and after the menopause. Amongst many advantages this helps to boost collagen production, especially in more mature skin.

Add a little something extra

For many of us, our skincare concerns encompass some more specific areas that we would like to improve too. Perhaps you are fed up of the bags under your eyes, troubled by the hard skin on your feet or wish your skin looked more even.
