Researcher at Liverpool John Moores University and Nutrition Consultant to the Professional Jockey's Authority, Injured Jockey's Fund and Widnes Vikings Rugby League.
Dan is currently a nutrition consultant to the Professional Jockeys Authority, Injured Jockeys Fund, and Widnes Vikings Rugby League as well as providing nutrition support to young athletes in the development pathways at England Hockey and British Athletics.
Graduating in sports science from Leeds Beckett University and a subsequent MSc in sport and exercise nutrition, Dan went on to lecture in nutrition and physiology on undergraduate programmes validated by Teesside University.
In 2015 he joined Healthspan Elite Expert Panel members Professor Graeme Close and Dr James Morton at Liverpool John Moores University and is now a member of their nutrition and research team undertaking his PhD. His current research, funded by the British Horseracing Association centres around developing optimal nutrition practices to make and maintain light weights whilst optimising athletic performance.
Having an interest in both nutrition and education his work seeks to design, implement and evaluate an industry-specific nutrition education platform. Dan is also a high performance registrant on the Sport and Exercise Nutrition register (SENr).
