George Ford began his rugby career at an early age, competing for England U18s at just 15 years old. During August 2009, he was part of the U18 side that toured Argentina. He was instrumental in the tour's success, converting 10 of the 15 tries against Western Province, leading to the team’s emphatic 95-0 win. He also contributed 20 of the 45 points scored when they beat South Africa Schools in the following match.
In the 2009-10 season, George went on to play a further five matches for the England U18s, where he scored 18 conversions, eight penalties and a try. In 2011 he went on to become the World Rugby Young Player of the Year due to his impressive performances for the England U20 side, and for becoming the youngest player to take part in a professional club match.
His full senior international career began during England’s victory against Wales in March 2014, coming off the bench in the final minutes. In the following game against Italy he made a try-scoring pass for his captain, Chris Robshaw.
George went on to become the top point-scorer in the 2015 Six Nations, with a total of 75 points, as well as making more offloads in the tournament than any other player.
In 2017, George became one of the three vice-captains for the 2017 Argentina tour. He didn’t disappoint, becoming the Old Mutual Wealth Man of the Match, and was one of the best players on tour with his all-round performances.
George returned to Leicester in 2017 and now plays alongside fellow Healthspan Elite ambassador, Jonny May.
We’re excited to have George on board, and look forward to supporting his success for years to come.
