Diets are often painted as restrictive and bland. Before you go reaching for the celery stick, Head of Nutrition at Healthspan Rob Hobson explains how a bit of research could lead you to a weight loss solution that allows you to eat what you want.

If you’re someone that has problems with weight the solution isn’t always easy. Diet’s don’t have to just be about salads and soups. They don’t need to be restrictive or confusing. It’s possible to get the results you want and using a diet program that allows you to have the odd treat every now and again!

What is Cheats & Eats?

I’ve been working with US born Jackie Wicks the founder of PEERtrainer and Healthspan to bring a diet to the UK that will help people find a diet that’s easy to follow and doesn’t disrupt everyday life. Overall wellbeing isn’t just about making sure we get enough vitamins and nutrients, it’s also about ensuring we’re healthier, happier and fitter. The Cheats and Eats Lifestyle Program caught my attention because it’s something I believe people can stick to and it didn’t involve obsessive calorie counting. You can eat and unlimited amount of Eats (the healthy stuff) but can still have a certain amount of Cheats (the tasty stuff) per day without any of the guilt!

Diet and exercise working together

Jackie believes the relationship between diet and exercise is key and so do I. Getting that balance right can be tricky, but it’s key to get it right to lose weight successfully. If you follow simple, at home routines and exercises similar to the ones recommended in Cheats & Eats then keeping active whilst dieting can be easy. Exercise doesn’t need to be the reserve of people with gym memberships, simple changes to your routine can make a difference.

Here’s some useful tips from Jackie on how you can get more active:

Build your base – we all have various levels of fitness. Find out where you are and make that you’re starting point.

Walk, walk and then do more walking – Grab those walking shoes! Increasing your daily step count can be hugely beneficial for your health and wellbeing.

Find movement and fitness you love – exercise doesn’t have to be a chore. Find an activity or routine you love and go for it!

Confront your stress – believe it or not there’s research that suggests that stress can be a factor when it comes it weight gain.

When I’m doing Cheats & Eats can I take supplements?

You can take supplements with this diet, but food must come first. Cheats & Eats will arm you with enough vitamins and minerals required for optimal nutrient intake. Supplements can be used as a booster or if you need to fill any shortfalls in your diet.

What does Jackie say?

“I’ve spent many years obsessed with one question: what diet will people actually follow through with? People want to stick to a programme and achieve their weight and health goals, and I wanted to find the diet that will help them actually do it. I’ve been obsessed with finding the combination of habits and practices that will help people commit to losing weight, being healthy, feeling good and getting rid of guilt...”

“The most successful diet is always going to be the one that you can stick to and we know you will be able to stick to The Cheats and Eats Lifestyle Program, thousands of people already have.”
