Nurture team January 18, 2015

After a year of bad hair care habits and a cold winter your hair may need a little revival. Here are our January detox tips to give your hair the best start this year. A few small changes now could transform your hair.

Give up heat styling for a week

Giving up your hairdryer, curling tongs or straighteners completely may not be something you are willing to do permanently but even in the short term this can have great benefits. Generally any form of heat styling is damaging to the natural moisture levels in your hair. This makes it less elastic and unable to stretch without breaking. If you give up heat styling for just one week this will allow your hair to replenish its moisture levels, leaving it looking fuller and shinier. In the long-term try to cut the number of times you use these appliances and always use a heat protecting product to limit the damage.

Feed your hair

Unfortunately hair is not a vital organ which means that your body won’t prioritize its nutritional needs. What many would also consider to be a healthy diet; for example one that includes many fruits and vegetables, does not necessarily provide your hair with what it needs. To give hair a helping hand incorporate proteins and complex carbohydrates such as fish, chicken, eggs, oats and brown rice. Even with these steps you can’t guarantee that the nutrients will be passed on to your hair so if you want more assurance try a hair supplement like ours which contains the optimal nutrient levels your hair needs. Apply nutrients directly onto your hair, roots and scalp too by using our outer hair care products.

Visit the salon for a trim

Despite what many other companies might tell you, split-ends cannot be healed. The only way to do away with them is to have them trimmed off. After your salon trip you can prevent split-ends from returning quite so quickly by brushing gently, squeezing the water out of your hair with a towel rather than rubbing and using a deep conditioning treatment regularly.
