Martyn Waghorn began his career at Sunderland at the age of 8. He made his first team debut in December 2007 against Manchester United just 17 years old.
Martyn continued his development with loan spells at Charlton and then Leicester City, the latter being the most successful, making the championship play offs in the 2009 – 2010 season.
On 31st August 2010, Martyn made the move to Leicester permanently for a 4 year period. He had loan spells with Hull, Millwall and Wigan, eventually deciding to move onto Wigan in 2014.
Martyn signed for Rangers FC in 2015 and was part of the team that got promoted back to the Scottish Premiership, scoring 28 goals in the process. Martyn received Players ‘Player of the Year’ award and also made the Scottish Championship PFA team of the year.
At youth level Martyn enjoyed some international experience, playing twice for England u19’s. However, it was for the u21’s where Martyn shined, scoring twice in 5 appearances.
