Avocados are a rich source of many nutrients that are good for the health of your heart, including folate, vitamin E, potassium and monounsaturated fats. These nutrients have been linked to a reduction in LDL (bad) cholesterol and maintaining healthy blood pressure, factors that help to reduce the risk of stroke, which is a major risk factor for dementia.


For the salad

  • 1 pink grapefruit, peeled, pith removed and cut into segments
  • 1 avocado, peeled, stoned and cut into slices
  • 320g cooked king prawns
  • ¼ red onion, finely sliced
  • ½ red chilli, finely sliced
  • Mint
  • Coriander

For the dressing

  • 2tbsp lime juice
  • 2tsp fish sauce
  • 1tbsp brown sugar
  • 2tsp sesame oil
  • 1tsp ginger, finely chopped


  • Add the salad ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Combine the dressing ingredients in a small bowl and pour over the salad.

Serves: 2
