There’s the kind of summer shower that cancels your trip to the beach, then there’s the kind of shower that’s perfect for any summer day…

Whether it’s a refreshing shower after a sandy day at the beach or an invigorating kick-start to the day, investing in your shower routine can turn it from a bit of chore to a skin and hair care treat. For the perfect shower this summertime, here are our expert tips.

Top tip! Showering in the morning? Try a contrast shower to set you up for the day and invigorate your body and mind. Switching between hot and cold water (try two minutes of warm, followed by one minute of cold, then repeat) can boost circulation, improve lymphatic movement and can help improve the appearance of skin and hair.

Lather up

Most of us love the ultimate relaxation of having our hair washed at the salon – plus your hair looks great for days afterwards too. The good news is that you can bring a little bit of that relaxation and the super-smooth results into your everyday life with the Replenish Full Volume Shampoo, thanks to phytoestrogens for improved hydration and volume, antioxidants of pro-vitamin B5 and C to help protect against environmental damage and keratin for its strengthening properties.

First, ensure hair is well saturated with water before applying shampoo – this will help induce a proper lather and allow the scalp and roots to be washed thoroughly.

Only use shampoo on your scalp (the suds will cleanse the ends) but don’t scrub too hard – let the formula do the work to remove any sweat, dirt and oil. Instead, apply pressure just with your fingertips, varying the amount of pressure and changing up the direction every few minutes from clockwise to anticlockwise. This little massage will boost circulation to the hair follicles, helping to create healthier hair. To finish the shampoo process, thoroughly rinse your hair – this should take double the amount of time it took to apply it, to ensure hair is thoroughly rinsed. Always use tepid water, which will extend the life of your blow dry comparing to rinsing with hot water.

Follow up

For normal hair types, the question is how to condition the hair without compromising on that clean feeling. The Replenish Nourishing Care Conditioner is light enough for everyday use and won’t weigh the hair down. To use, squeeze out some of the water from your hair then apply the conditioner with your fingers from the mid-lengths to the ends. Pro-vitamin B5 will work its magic to hydrate the hair, the wheat germ oil and vitamin E help protect against heat damage and colour fade whilst apricot kernel oil boosts shine.

Did you know? Finish your hair routine with a blast of cold water to give your hair an extra shine.

For dry or damaged hair, switch to the Replenish Intensive Repair Conditioner. The same rules apply: avoid your roots, brush the cream gently through the mid-lengths to the ends of your hair and for extra nourishment, leave for a few minutes before thoroughly rinsing. The formula’s black oat extract improves hair structure and strength while plant oestrogens, natural oils and pro-vitamin B5 restore shine, hydration and elasticity.

Top tip! After applying your conditioner through your hair, use the conditioner left on your hands to condition your cuticles and dry parts of your feet.

Freshen up

After rinsing out your conditioner, pamper your skin with the Replenish Conditioning Body Wash. Applied to a flannel or luffa, this nurturing, pH-balanced body wash enriches skin with pro-vitamin B5, vitamin E and plant oestrogens to luxuriously cleanse, without stripping away your skin’s protective oils, for softer, smoother and more hydrated skin. Brighten up Exfoliators are great for a deep-down clean as well as creating an instant glow, particularly during the summer when the onslaught of sunscreen, dirt, oil and pollution can all inhibit skin’s renewal process. If exfoliating in the shower, wait until the end of your routine to ensure you can remove any remnants of shampoo or conditioner from your skin.

Massage the Skin Brightening Facial Exfoliator into your face and neck in circular motions for 30 seconds, paying particular attention to congested areas like the nose and T-zone. Natural particles of grape seed and papaya extract, plus moisture-boosting borage oil and antioxidant vitamins C and E, give skin a deep-down clean, visibly improving skin’s radiance, smoothness and texture after rinsing.

Top tip! If you do wash or exfoliate your face in the shower, turn the temperature down to protect your delicate facial skin.
