Ever used the excuse ‘sorry, I’m busy washing my hair?’ If not, today’s the day! Taking some time out to reassess your hair routine can leave you with the healthy, luscious locks you crave. 

Whether your crowning glory is dry, fine, limp or dull, there are many simple ways of easing your haircare woes.

Dry or frizzy hair

When showering turn the temperature down as this can dry out hair further; this will help close cuticles and eliminate frizz. When it comes to drying, if your hairdryer has lower heat settings, try them out. Additionally try and avoid excessive dyeing if you can and perhaps revert back to your natural colour or embrace the grey.

Limp hair

Lather on your shampoo as normal and give your hair a light rinse, leaving some product in. The next step is to simply lather it up again after the first rinse and ensure the shampoo is completely out the second time round as leaving any product in can cause it to fall flat. Try volumising products to provide both moisture and bounce. Also look out for vitamins such as pro-vitamin B5 and C in hair products as these can help thicken and strengthen hair follicles.

Fine hair

Listen to your hair, if it becomes greasy and you need to shampoo daily then do. When shampooing treat yourself to a scalp massage which can help stimulate growth by increasing blood circulation to hair follicles and strengthening roots. Avoid too much heat styling but if you must, ensure hair is completely dry before doing so. Our top piece of advice for fine hair is an oldie, but a goodie – blow dry your hair upside down to reinject some bounce.

Dull lacklustre hair

Blast hair with cold water at the end of your shower to seal hair’s cuticles tight and help control greasiness. Wash your hair daily if you feel it needs it; just like skin, hair can be a magnet for dirt and grime which can weigh it down so washing daily can protect it from these environmental nuisances. Most importantly opt for a shampoo containing keratin, a powerful protein that nourishes and softens hair whilst strengthening it.
