The calorie intake of professional rugby players is far above that of the general population as a result of the intensive training and energy requirements, as well as their size. Whilst consuming large amounts of calories, players still need to maintain balance to ensure they are getting all of the essential nutrients they need to avoid illness, prevent injury and to maximise their performance and recovery.

Edinburgh Rugby’s Stuart McInally and Chris Dean talked to Healthspan Elite about life as professional rugby players, and the steps they have to go through to ensure they are getting the most out of their diet and supplementation.
