The recent report by Greenpeace suggests some fisheries are not abiding by sustainable fishing rules, the organisation therefore wants to end krill fishing in places that are currently under consideration as Marine Protection Areas. We welcome Greenpeace’s critical report and hope it will speed up the establishment of Marine Protection Areas, as well as reducing irresponsible and unsustainable krill fishing.
Healthspan’s krill is sustainably sourced from an area where the biomass is monitored and shown to be stable (only 0.5% of the total estimated biomass is taken every year). Sustainability has been a long-term commitment by Healthspan; we source our krill from Aker BioMarine, an MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified company. The assurance provided by the MSC accreditation means we are confident that our krill is sustainably sourced and will ensure this continues.
