Martyn Waghorn began his career at Sunderland at the age of eight. He made his first-team debut in December 2007 against Manchester United just 17 years old.
Martyn continued his development with loan spells at Charlton and then Leicester City, the latter being the most successful, making the championship playoffs in the 2009 - 2010 season.
On 31st August 2010, Martyn made the move to Leicester for a four-year period. He had loan spells with Hull, Millwall and Wigan, eventually deciding to move on to Wigan in 2014.
Martyn signed for Rangers FC in 2015 and was part of the team that was promoted back to the Scottish Premiership, scoring 28 goals in the process. Martyn received Players 'Player of the Year' award and also made the Scottish Championship PFA team of the year.
On 7th August 2017, Waghorn joined Ipswich Town on a two-year contract. Five days later, he scored the winning goal on his league debut, in a 2-1 victory over Barnsley. He finished the season as the club's top scorer with 16 league goals.
On 8th August 2018, Waghorn joined Derby County on a three-year contract.
At youth level Martyn enjoyed some international experience, playing twice for England u19's. However, it was for the u21's where Martyn shined, scoring twice in 5 appearances.
