Healthspan Hero Brian, 72, skydives for Prostate Cancer charity

As a father of two, grandfather of 2 and with 37 years' service in the RAF he has plenty to be proud of and can add a successful parachute jump to his list of achievements- although ultimately he found it an intensely enjoyable experience: "That's it, I'm hooked. I'm an adrenaline junkie." he said soon afterwards, "We came out of the plane at 10,000 feet into clear skies and I could see the whole of Cornwall below me- from Land's across to St Michael's Mount and up to Newquay and Truro- incredible."
Brian's choice of charity to fundraise for was an easy one- a blood test for a thyroid problem 2 years ago showed tell-tale signs of Prostate cancer- "I was dead lucky it got spotted- I had, and have had, no other symptoms" said Brian. Regular tests with the wonderful staff at the Oncology Department of Treliske Hospital are monitoring the symptoms with Active Surveillance and Brian is hoping the condition stays static and aims to keep it that way through an active and healthy lifestyle which includes a daily smoothie made of broccoli, watercress, watermelon and cooking apple.
Brian has been a Healthspan customer ever since his doctor recommended that he try Glucosamine as an alternative to some arthritis medication that was causing him stomach pain- a suggestion that he's found extrememly beneficial. Alongside that he takes Kelp and Coenzyme Q10- both of which help to keep our fundraising daredevil in good health- good enough health to be planning his next jump already- "But you won't catch me doing a bungee jump" he said!
Brian's tandem skydive was to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. You can help him reach his fundraising target at http://original.justgiving.com/Brian-Bailey2
