Our youngest Customer Hero raises £1000 with parachute jump

Many of our customers buy from Healthspan based on a recommendation from a member of their family- but in the case of our latest Customer Hero the element of choosing Healthspan was not her own. Having taken Healthspan children's multivitamins and omega 3 over the years, Emily, 16, has her parents to thank for our nutritional as well as financial support in her fundraising this summer.

Emily's mother applied for a Heroes award on Emily's behalf and we were able to help cover the cost of a parachute jump and insurance which meant that Emily could focus on raising sponsorship (and revising for her GCSEs.)

After 2 postponements due to poor weather, Emily took to the skies above Shropshire on the 23rd August for her tandem parachute jump:

I arrived at the airfield feeling excited but expecting for it to get called off again! But then the first plane load were called to jump and that’s when I realised that this was it after months of waiting. Finally it was my turn and I was the only first time jumper in my plane! I put on my suit and made my way to the safety zone outside. As the plane set off I kept my eyes on the count meter which showed you how high you were, as we reached 9 and a half thousand feet the nerves started to set in. The professional jumpers went first, leaving me as the last one to go, I shuffled towards the door and tried not to look down. The next thing I knew I was flying through the air at 120 mph!

I have raised £1000 for my chosen charity JDRF.  I would like to thank Healthspan for covering my jump fees, meaning that all the sponsorship money I raised could go directly to the charity, to help improve the lives of people like me living with type 1 diabetes.
