What is cod liver oil?
Cod liver oil has been revered for good health since the time of the Vikings. Although the name doesn't sound very inviting, we've come a long way from taking a daily dose of cod liver oil by the spoonful at school. A cod's liver is a rich source of oil containing vitamins A and D which support your vision, bones, teeth and immune system and the omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). It is these omega 3 fatty acids that give cod liver oil its health benefits for the brain, eyes and heart.*

The UK's Food Standards Agency advises that we eat a minimum of two portions of oily fish per week – equal to 450 mg per day of the long-chain omega 3 fatty acids.
