Scientifically shown to support heart health and energy production in the body, Coenzyme Q10 is helping people like David maintain tip top health and vitality in their later years

🕒 4 min read

Why he started

David Jones, 80, from Hastings, started taking Coenzyme Q10 sixteen years ago on the advice of his GP who specifically recommended him to try Healthspan’s Coenzyme Q10 after tests revealed rising blood pressure and a fluctuating heart rate. Sixteen years later, the supplement remains a key part of David’s daily regimen.

A healthy lifestyle (by design)

David has had a wide-ranging career - from mining consultant to software consultant and dog trainer - which has taken him all over the world. Married with one son and four stepsons, he prides himself on his healthy lifestyle. A former rugby player and cyclist, these days David averages 13,000 to 15,000 steps a day, makes his own wholemeal bread, eats 30 different fruits and vegetables a week, includes yogurt and kefir in his diet, and avoids red meat and ultra-processed foods.

Why Coenzyme Q10?

Healthspan’s Coenzyme Q10 is formulated with added Vitamin B1, which contributes to the normal function of the heart and normal energy-yielding metabolism. It is one of a range of Healthspan vitamins, minerals and nutrients that David believes help him stay fitter, healthier and more energetic than most people his age.

Despite having familial cholesterolaemia (inherited high cholesterol), for which he takes medication, David’s resting blood pressure is a healthy 120/70, while his resting heart rate sits between 47–53 beats per minute.

Since retiring more than ten years ago, David is active as ever. He is the 1066 Country Area Coordinator for the Pets as Therapy charity, a registered dementia therapist, and a lay Church of England preacher. So impressed is he with the supplements he takes that even Oliver, his Therapy Dog who always accompanies him on visits to care homes, and takes VetVits (Healthspan’s Pet supplements) too!

A simple daily routine

David takes one capsule of Coenzyme Q10 100mg with his breakfast and another with his evening meal. And he’s clearly doing something right. His GP recently told him, ‘I wish everyone controlled their pulse and blood pressure as well as you do.’
