Marian and Luna’s story
After losing Geoff, her husband of more than 50 years, retired librarian Marian Parker found solace in their dog, Luna.
“She has been my lifesaver,” she says.
Meet Luna
Luna, now 5½, is Marian’s fourth Rough Collie. She was a Covid puppy who was feisty from the start.
“She was the cheekiest out of the litter and she’s always been a little monkey,” laughs Marian, recalling how the first night they had her she came into the bedroom and dug up the carpet.
That wasn’t her last piece of mischief.
“I’ve got a lovely photo of her with Geoff. She walked up to him with the toilet roll in her mouth and it was trailing from the holder. And oh, the look on his face!”
When Geoff died suddenly two years ago, Luna became Marian’s constant companion.
“She’s great company. We go for lovely long walks,” says Marian, who is based in Devon.
When Marian began noticing little leaks
Recently, while having her morning coffee, Marian noticed something less welcome: a small puddle under the kitchen table where Luna likes to lie.
